ABOUT

With the numerous amounts of “quick fix diets” and media claims on nutrition, health and fitness in the public eye today, it’s extremely difficult for consumers to understand what they need to do to maintain and improve their health.

The Clean Health Project is centered on the idea that food (what we put into our bodies every day) is one the key components (if not THE component) that we have the ability to control in order to positively impact our health, body and well-being.  Whether it’s a small change once a week or a complete rehab of your health lifestyle, The Clean Health Project was created to:
  • Bridge the knowledge gap in food IQ and science
  • Inspire individuals to shift to a primarily natural, whole food based diet
  • Inform the public on how they can play a role in improving our nation’s health, starting with their own behavioral impact

ABOUT LAUREN:

My name is Lauren Betzing and I am the creator of the Clean Health Project.

After spending several years in the management consulting industry and realizing how unfilled I was by my career, I made the decision to change course. I am currently pursuing my Masters in Public Health in Social and Behavioral Sciences at Yale University, and also have a background in Psychology and Brain Sciences from my undergraduate education at Dartmouth College.

My interest and knowledge in the field of health, nutrition and food policy has stemmed from many sources including my collegiate athletic career, professional work in the health care industry, and community non-profit work in childhood obesity and education.

Over the past few years, I’ve explored, read, and digested information and research from many of the leading academics and journalists in the field ranging from Michael Pollan to Dan Buettner’s noteworthy research on the Blue Zones.  As I have gotten deeper into the literature and developed a greater understanding of food policy in particular, I have increasingly felt a greater responsibility to share this information with a broader audience.

As I transition even more of my time to focus on this field, I see it as an opportunity to also educate and share my growing expertise. I hope to create a meaningful dialogue with others who are invested in these topics on a personal level and even on a broader level with respect to the future health of our nation.

I hope to inform, inspire and even shock you now and again. Your participation in the blog is both appreciated and welcome, so please feel free to comment or contact me personally about anything related to the Clean Health Project.  Enjoy!
